We are building a new cornerstone in the DMV music festival scene and we hope you can join!

Our target date is Saturday, September 7th, 2024

Our Vision

Tellerfest is one of the most original music festivals in the greater Baltimore area. We are seeking to sustain our momentum in 2024. Our music festival is an immersive experience filled with music, art, and community. As the years roll on we aim to grow in every one of these areas and to keep putting more focus on local artists, street food, and small businesses.

606 Attendees

1,000 Beers sold

150 Emails

30 Local vendors and artists

15 Local sponsors

47 Shirts Sold

15 Bands

Location

We are looking at hosting Tellerfest at the Observatory in Patterson Park, Baltimore. We are aiming to keep the festival free and open to the public. Moving the venue to a public park with the support of the city and neighborhood organizations will ensure greater foot traffic from a more diverse range of people.

Community

Tellerfest would be nothing without the local community in the greater Baltimore area. We rely on local businesses/vendors to help fund our stages, production, and show. Without them, we wouldn’t have those things. We rely on local artists and musicians to take part in our event. Without them, we wouldn’t have something to celebrate. Most importantly, we rely on the people that come to our event. These attendees are some of the kindest people there are and without them there would be no event. The people are what makes the heart of Tellerfest.

At this event, we are all about providing the best event we can to these people. We want to provide our guests a space where they can feel free. We want them to feel like they can be themselves. We want them to feel like they are all taking part in something special, together. Why? Because they are!

In today’s day and age, music is one of the only ways people allow themselves to come together in a group and do so without fear, worry, or care. At Tellerfest you are more likely to see people being happy, care-free, and present. This is why we feel that we are taking part in something special. When people are present it allows them to connect with others. When our community members get to reconnect with old friends or even connect with strangers, it makes the bonds within our community stronger.

Music

Tellerfest 2022 hosted 15 acts from all over the Mid-Alantic. Only half of those acts came from our home market of Baltimore.

In 2023 we are planning using a much more direct talent buying strategy. Aside from 1st or 2nd tier bands, we want to focus on booking all local acts from the DMV. In the case of 1st or 2nd tier bands we want to keep them as local as possible. This isn’t to say that a 1st or 2nd tier local act can’t also be a nationally touring act.

Keeping the music local will do three things. First, it will maximize our attendance. Our market consists of concert-goers within in the DMV. We want DMV bands. Secondly, we will get the most bang for our buck with local acts. Musical acts that are traveling from out of town will cost exponentially more than local acts. Furthermore, at this stage in our developement, the chances are that out-of-town bands will not draw. Having local talent on our roster also keeps in line with our stated vision. In 2024, we are focusing on our local community and all of the beautiful art that our area has to offer.

Art

If music is how we decorate time, then art is how we decorate space. These two things are one in the same. We make sure to include live art, collaborative art, and artist vendors in every corner of our event space.

Live art is an intense collaboration between musicians and artists. Our live artists will improvise a work of art on the spot while music is being played and improvised. The end result is a true visual representation of the music.

Collaborative art is a community-based form of art. One or two artist will create a visual back drop, sectioned off with numbers. Participants will choose a number and paint/draw over their section. Once all of the sections are painted and the work is finished, we are left with a truly unique piece of art that can never be recreated. Collaborative art brings people together in a creative medium, and gets them outside of themselves. This is a visual representation of the community.

Artists vendors are vendors that set up their “exhibits” within their vendor space. They get to showcase their art and put it up for sale. Again, the focus is on supporting local artists. Art and music help spur on connection between strangers, and we want local people to get connected and help build our scene. This in turn supports us.

Support Local

We’ve talked a lot about how we focus on local musicians and artists. Let’s take a look behind the scenes. Small businesses and local organizations help make Tellerfest possible. We make sure all of the staffing for the event is from Maryland (production companies, sound techs, security, and stage hands).

Small businesses and local corporations are what makes up the greater community. They create job markets for everyone in the surrounding area and provide goods and services for them too. These businesses are an integral part of our culture. We like to showcase businesses as sponsors to our event or as vendors.

Giving back and “partying with a purpose” is another key element to making our event community-based. We raise funds for local charities in hopes that we can make a greater difference in our surrounding community. We want to make an impact in Baltimore and the DMV when we gather. Let’s continue to help the people in our group, but why stop there? Why not focus on helping people in the greater community that aren’t a part of our group?
